2020 Sports Technology Awards Winners Revealed
World Class Line-Up, Including F1, Asics and Sunset+Vine Produce ‘Mind Blowing’ Work
London: Today (10th September) the winners of the 2020 Sports Technology Awards, the leading global celebration of tech-led innovations in sports, were revealed.
Among the winners were Asics, for its work on real-time video delivery, Sunset+Vine, for its ground-breaking broadcast of the INEOS 1:59 Challenge, and F1, which walked off with two accolades, one for its innovative use of esports to engage fans and a second trophy marking its outstanding work for highly technical fan insights.
The ceremony, which was streamed virtually, attracted a worldwide audience of over 1,000 industry figures, which included Olympians, World Cup winners, sports coaches, directors of sports federations, and significant figures from the business of sports.
Rebecca Hopkins, CEO of The STA Group, owners of The Sports Technology Awards, explained ‘The Sports Technology Awards have unequivocally become the sector’s ultimate accolade, being recognized as a mark of excellence internationally. Our judges, who are seasoned experts, noted the sophistication now inherent in so many entries; they said that not only was this exciting to witness, these will undoubtedly change the face of our sector.’
Olympic Sprinter and Sports Technology Awards’ judge, Asha Philip, added ‘The winning work really was immensely impressive; the way brands are using technology to improve safety, refine their proposition, understand and enhance fan behaviors and experiences, as well as make athletes perform better – several of us can honestly claim to have had our minds blown.’
